U.S. Rig Count Falls Slightly From Almost Eight-Month High, Canadian Rig Count Continues Climb

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States decreased 0.2% from last week’s almost eight-month high of 1,782 to 1,778 for the week ending August 9, 2013, halting a five-week upward trend.  The count is also some 7.9% below the year-ago level of 1,931.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada continues to climb, increasing 5.0% from 341 to 358 this week, and still remaining at the highest count since March 22, 2013.  The count is also some 19.7% above the year-ago level of 299.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States increased for the fifth consecutive week, up 0.3% from last week’s 1,776 to 1,782 for the week ending August 2, 2013, becoming the highest level since December 14, 2012.  Despite the increase, the count is some 7.7% below the year-ago level of 1,930.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada climbed for the twelfth consecutive week, up 3.7% from 329 to 341 this week and remaining at the highest count since March 22, 2013.  The count is also some 12.5% above the year-ago level of 303.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States increased for the fourth consecutive week, up 0.3% from last week’s 1,770 to 1,776 for the week ending July 26, 2013, but is still some 7.7% below the year-ago level of 1,924.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada climbed for the eleventh consecutive week, increasing 1.5% from 324 to 329 this week and remaining at the highest level since March 22, 2013.  The count is some 2.7% below the year-ago level of 338.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States increased 0.6% to 1,770 for the week ending July 19, 2013, up eleven from last week’s count of 1,759, but is some 8.5% below the year-ago level of 1,935.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada climbed for the tenth consecutive week, jumping 10.2% from 294 to 324 to the highest level since March 22, 2013.  The count is some 1.2% below the year-ago level of 328.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States increased 0.5% to 1,757 for the week ending July 3, 2013, up slightly from last week’s count of 1,748 but is some 10.6% below the year-ago level of 1,965.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada increased 3.9% from 206 to 214 this week and reached the highest count since March 28, 2013.  Despite the increase, the count is still some 18.9% below the year-ago level of 264.

U.S. Rig Count Declines for Second Week, Canadian Rig Count Nears Three-Month High

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States fell for the second week to 1,748 for the week ending June 28, 2013, decreasing 0.6% from last week’s 1,759 and is now some 10.8% below the year-ago level of 1,959.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada continued to climb, increasing 4.6% from 197 to 206 this week, and nearing a three-month high.  Despite the increase, the count is still 21.1% below the year-ago level of 261.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States fell to 1,759 for the week ending June 21, 2013, a 0.7% decline from last week’s 1,771 and is some 10.5% below the year-ago level of 1,966.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada increased for the sixth consecutive week, climbing 11.9% from 176 to 197 this week, and reaching an 11-week high.  Despite the increase, the count is still 17.2% below the year-ago level of 238.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States fell to 1,765 for the week ending June 7, 2013, a 0.3% decline from last week’s 1,771 and some 11.0% below the year-ago level of 1,984.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada increased for the fourth consecutive week, rising 4.8% to 152 from 145 the week before.  However, rigs are a whopping 33.9% below the year-ago level of 230.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.
