U.S. Rig Count Remains Steady, Canadian Rig Count Climbs from Three-Year Low

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States remained at 1,769 for the week ending May 17, 2013, but was still 10.9% below the year-ago level of 1,986.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada rose 4.2%, halting the eleven-week downslide and rising from the three-year low of 118 recorded last week.  The rig count is at the same level as a year ago.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

U.S. Rig Count Increases for Second Week, Canadian Rig Count Hits Three-Year Low

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States increased for the second consecutive week, rising 0.3% to 1,769 for the week ending May 10, 2013.  While the number of rigs is up from 1,754 last week, it is still 10.4% below the year-ago level of 1,974.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada fell for the eleventh consecutive week, down 2.5% from 121 to 118, the lowest count since May 7, 2010.  The rig count is also down 1.7% from the year-ago level of 120.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

U.S. Rig Count Ticks Higher, Canadian Rig Count Continues Downward Trend

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States increased by ten rigs to 1764 for the week ending May 3, 2013, up 0.6% from last week’s count of 1,754, but still some 10.2% below the year-ago level of 1,965.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada fell for the tenth consecutive week, declining 0.8% from 122 to 121 and remaining at the lowest count since May 11, 2012.  The rig count is also down 7.6% from the year-ago level of 131.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States fell for the second consecutive week, decreasing 0.2% from last week’s count of 1,758 to 1,754 for the week ending April 26, 2013.  The count is also 9.8% below the year-ago level of 1,945.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada continued its downward trend, falling 3.2% from 126 to 122, which is the lowest count since May 11, 2012.  The rig count is also down 9.0% from the year-ago level of 134.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States fell 0.7% from last week’s count of 1,771 to 1,758 for the week ending April 19, 2013 and is 10.9% below the year-ago level of 1,972.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada fell for the eighth consecutive week, dropping 19.2% from 156 to 126, which is the lowest count since May 18, 2012.  The rig count is also down 13.7% from the year-ago level of 146.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

U.S. Rig Count Climbs From March 2011 Low, Canada Rig Count Continues to Fall

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States rose 1.9% to 1,771 for the week ending April 12, 2013, up from last week’s 1,738, which was the lowest since March 2011.  The count is still 9.2% below the year-ago level of 1,950.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada fell 24.3%, dropping from 206 to 156 – the lowest count since June 1, 2012 – and were down 4.9% from the year-ago level of 164.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

U.S. Rig Count Lowest Since March 2011, Canada Rig Count Falls Further

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States fell 10 rigs to 1,738 for the week ending April 5, 2013, down 0.6% from last week’s count and 12.2% from the year-ago level of 1,979 to the lowest since March 2011.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada fell for the sixth consecutive week, dropping 16.3% from 246 to 206, and is now 68.9% below the 2013 high of 662 on February 22.  Despite the decline, the rig count is up 10.2% from the year-ago level of 187.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States rose 0.1% to 1,748 for the week ending March 28, 2013, but is still down 1.6% from the 2013 high of 1,776 on March 15 and down 11.7% from the year-ago level of 1,979.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada fell 27% this week from 337 to 246 and has dropped 62.8% from the 2013 high of 662 on February 22.  The rig count is also down 3.9% from the year-ago level of 256.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.

U.S. Rig Count Posts Largest Jump in over 2 Years

The number of active oil and natural gas rigs in the United States rose by 24 to 1,776 for the week ending March 15, 2013 – up 1.4% from last week – the largest weekly percentage increase since December 2011 – but still down 10.5% from last year.

The highest weekly rig count in the United States since 1940 was recorded on December 28, 1981, at 4,530; the lowest was recorded on April 23, 1999, at 488.

The number of rigs in Canada fell 13.3% this week, coming in at 503 from 580 last week and down 2.7% from last year.

The highest rig count for Canada was 727 on February 3, 2006; the lowest was 29, recorded on April 24, 1992.
