Iron Ore Price Remains at Four-Month High

The spot reference price for 62% Fe iron ore cfr North China rose 0.5% to $138.60 for the week ending August 23, 2013, remaining at a four-month w-o-w high but slightly lower than the recent mid-week price of $142.80.

The spot price for iron ore averaged $112.12 in 3Q12, $120.57 in 4Q12, $148.16 in 1Q13, and $125.76 in 2Q13; the full-year 2012 average was $128.30.

The post-recession low was $59.10 on March 27, 2009, while the high was $190.19 on February 17, 2011.

Iron Ore Price Jumps to Five-Month High

The spot reference price for 62% Fe iron ore cfr North China rose 3.6% to $137.90 for the week ending August 16, 2013, climbing to a five-month high.  The price rose as high as $142.80 on August 14 before falling slightly at the end of the week.

The spot price for iron ore averaged $112.12 in 3Q12, $120.57 in 4Q12, $148.16 in 1Q13, and $125.76 in 2Q13; the full-year 2012 average was $128.30.

The post-recession low was $59.10 on March 27, 2009, while the high was $190.19 on February 17, 2011.

The spot reference price for 62% Fe iron ore cfr North China rose 2.3% to $133.10 for the week ending August 7, 2013, bouncing back to a three-month high.

The spot price for iron ore averaged $112.12 in 3Q12, $120.57 in 4Q12, $148.16 in 1Q13, and $125.76 in 2Q13; the full-year 2012 average was $128.30.

The post-recession low was $59.10 on March 27, 2009, while the high was $190.19 on February 17, 2011.

Iron Ore Price Continues Climb, Nearing Three-Month High

The spot reference price for 62% Fe iron ore cfr North China rose 3.9% to $131.70 for the week ending July 19, 2013.  The price climbed as high as $131.90 during the week, which was the highest price since April 30, 2013, before settling at $131.70 at the end of the week.

The spot price for iron ore averaged $112.12 in 3Q12, $120.57 in 4Q12, $148.16 in 1Q13, and $125.76 in 2Q13; the full-year 2012 average was $128.30.

The spot reference price for 62% Fe iron ore cfr North China fell 1.8% to $116.50 for the week ending June 28, 2013, ending three consecutive weekly gains after bottoming at $110.40 for the week ending May 31.   The price dropped as low as $113.80 early in the week, but rebounded over the last three days.

The spot price for iron ore averaged , $112.12 in 3Q12, $120.57 in 4Q12, $148.16 in 1Q13 and $125.76 in 2Q13; the full-year 2012 average was $128.30.
